Gone are the days of rolling out of bed at noon with not a care in the world. Soon the 7:30 a.m. first class bell will be haunting their dreams! With the start of the school year comes the start of the Teen Center’s new hours. Beginning Sept. 4, the Teen Center will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Like last year, there will be a designated bus stop in front of the center on Union Street for those teens in Brunswick wishing to take the bus directly from school.
To help alleviate the pains of having to deal with the shock that the first week of school can sometimes bring, the Teen Center will be having it’s first Movie Under the Stars showing on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
Open to the public and geared toward teens, the movie will be shown outdoors, with the audience sitting on the grassy area behind the center. Popcorn, hot dogs and refreshments will be available for purchase and it is strongly recommended to bring a blanket to enjoy the movie.
And finally, it is with great pleasure to introduce the Teen Center’s “Member of the Month,” a new program started this month.
Josh Burke has been chosen as the Teen Center’s inaugural member that best exemplifies our mission statement. Burke consistently comes to the Teen Center with a positive attitude, an open mind and a willingness to help out when asked. To reward his great attitude at the center, he will receive a pair of tickets to Regal Cinema.
