There have been town newspapers in Harpswell’s past. One I ran across covered happenings in one section of the town. Another covered municipal matters, but gave no clear picture of the whole town. None gave a comprehensive look at the many municipal, civic, historical, and environmental events – that is until the Harpswell Anchor was hatched from Bob Anderson’s big idea. Given the tremendous service the Anchor provides to the community it is tragic that its financial burdens caused it to sink. We will be the poorer for it. Let’s appreciate and support the remaining services for local news in the Times Record, the Coastal Journal, and The Forecaster.
