BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin junior Coby Horowitz has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week.
Horowitz grabbed sixth place at the New England Championship on Sunday at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
The junior was the top Division III finisher, covering the 8,000-meter course in 24:34.43. By doing so, he earned All- New England recognition and helped the Polar Bears secure sixth place out of 37 teams.
Horowitz’s finish was the best by a Bowdoin studentathlete since Doug Ingersoll in 1981 and lifted the Polar Bears to their best finish in the event since the 1940s.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
