AUGUSTA — The rain did not stop the determined Sugg Middle School cross country team in a recent meet at Cony High School.
In the girls meet, Kailyn Le and Emily Chase were the only Sugg runners, with Le finishing fourth in 14:36.31, while Chase was 27th overall in 20:11.60.
Host Cony finished with 23 points for first place, followed by Hall-Dale (57 points), Monmouth (58) and Winthrop (95). Being short of runners, the Greyhounds did not post a score.
In the boys competition, Hall-Dale took top honors with 28 points, while Winthrop (64), Cony (78), Sugg (86) and Windsor (100) finished second to fifth, respectively.
Sugg’s Michael Schlotterbeck was fifth overall in 14:13.96.
Other Greyhound finishers were Kyle Provencal (17th, 15:50.66), Silas Crosby (19th, 16:02), Mitchell Porter (31st, 17:39.72, personal-best), Geoffrey Shambarger (34th, 20:08.29, personal-best) and Jacob Brooks (38th, 22:12.06, personal-best).
