THE MPA SCHOOLBOY and Schoolgirl Individual State Golf Championships were held Saturday at the Natanis Golf Club with a number of Mid-coast region participants. In Class A boys at the Tomahawk course, Brad Smith of Brunswick finished second to Gorham’s Mike Caron, 75- 76. Tyler O’Connor of Mt. Ararat tied for fifth with an 80 and Chris Billings of Topsham and Cheverus was one shot back at 81. In Class B play at Tomahawk, Nick Car tmell of Freeport shot an 86 and the overall champ was Reese McFarlane of Cape Elizabeth with a 74, three shots better than Red Desmith of Yarmouth. The Class C title was contested at Arrowhead and competing for Wiscasset were Chandler Longfellow (81), Daren Wood (81) and Cody Graves (86). The overall Class C boys champion was Sam Grindle of Deer Isle at 68, six shots better that Zach DeBlois of St. Dom’s (74). In the girls competition, Alice Hwang of Bangor was tops with an 84, one stroke better than Monica Austin of Yarmouth (85).
