CUMBERLAND — A conservation easement is the site of a dedication and fall hike Saturday, Oct. 20.
The Farwell Forest easement and a granite bench will be dedicated in part to the memory of the late Lynette Seekins Cameron. She grew up in Cumberland and was the fourth-generation of her family to live on the Blanchard Road property, which she wanted to preserve for her family and community members.
The dedication, organized by the Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust and Cameron’s family and friends, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Refreshments will be available, and participants can hike through the easement, which protects 46 acres of mixed forest, a spring-fed stream, and a diverse habitat for wildlife. A public access trail allows hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
The event is free and open to the public. The forest property is at 145 Blanchard Road. People can park along Blanchard Road and gather at the edge of the field.
