To the Editor:
This letter is in support of Fred Horch’s candidacy for representative to the Legislature.
I have known Fred for many years. As small-business owners committed to operating sustainably while still remaining viable, Fred and I have relied on each other as sounding boards many times. In addition, as parents, we share the same hope that our children will be able to create bright futures here in Maine.
I have seen firsthand that Fred understands the unique challenges that Maine’s small businesses and families face during these tough economic times. Fred will be a powerful advocate for us in Augusta.
Fred’s voice in the State House will help build Maine’s brand and strengthen our economy. Maine’s reputation as a clean, green state draws tourists and their much needed dollars to our state. Our reputation as one of America’s most pristine states also drives exports of Maine made products throughout the world. We can count on Fred to protect our environment, this most vital asset to Maine’s economy.
Looking forward, Maine has the potential to be a leader in the production of clean energy and clean energy technologies. Developing our clean energy potential will lead to good jobs for Mainers, not to mention giving Maine’s small businesses a huge leg up on competitors from less forward-thinking states. At a time when Maine desperately needs jobs, Fred is uniquely capable of helping us to capitalize on this huge opportunity.
We need Fred on our state’s energy committee to help steer Maine toward national leadership in the pursuit of energy independence.
Brunswick should be proud to elect such a knowledgeable, passionate and steadfast representative. If creating new jobs while preserving our environment is a priority for you, then Fred Horch is your man.
