WINTHROP — The Phillip W. Sugg Middle School cross country team was in action on Thursday at Winthrop Middle School.
In the girls race, 77 runners took to the course, with 64 boys competing.
Kaylin Le continued her strong fall season, finishing sixth in 14:17.67. Teammate Emily Chase completed the 3,000-meter course in 20:22.41, good for 59th.
The Sugg boys were out in full force, getting a fifth-place showing from Josiah Kinney (13:30.81) and seventh-place finish from Michael Schlotterbeck (13:33.95), with teammates Kyle Provencal (28th, 15:07.65), Silas Crosby (34th, 15:28.28), Mitchell Porter (43rd, 16:47.20) and Jacob Brooks (56th, 19:29.46) completing the challenging course.
Camden-Rockport took home the boys win with 36 points, followed by Sandy River (46 points), Hall-Dale (90), Sugg (90), Gardiner (125) and Winthrop (128), while the girls win went to Cony (27), with Camden-Rockport (50), Monmouth (109), Hall-Dale (110), Sandy River (122), Boothbay (145), Winthrop (159) and Gardiner (204) scoring.
