BRUNSWICK — Gloria R. Soucie, 70, of Brunswick, formerly of Durham died Sunday October 28, at Horizon Rehab and Living Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Durham on September 5, 1942 a daughter of the late Forrest and Rita (Smith) Merrill. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1959 and then went on to attend Correspondence Institute of Radio Correspondence in Boston.

Gloria married D. Edward Soucie on May 15, 1976, he predeceased her in December 2006. She worked at Regional Hospital in Brunswick as a nurses aid until she retired in 1983. She enjoyed camping at Lead Mountain, knitting, spending time with her grandchildren, and recently enjoyed raising money by holding bake sales for “Can You Help Us?” an organization that helps children from other countries.

She leaves a son James Beal and his wife Kelly of Lisbon Falls, two daughters Bonnie Caron and her husband David of Durham, Richelle Niles of Lisbon Falls, two step sons Mark Soucie and wife Theresa of Durham and Thomas Soucie and his wife Helen of Colebrook NH two sisters Elaine Sears and husband Lloyd of Durham, and Brenda Carver and husband Robert of Carthage, a sisterin law, Jackie Lacharite of Brunswick, two brothers Royce Merrill and wife Jackie of Durham and Dawson Merrill and wife Rita of Durham, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers Carleton and Harold Merrill.

Family and friends are invited to The Masonic Lodge65BaribeauDr. in Brunswick on Friday November 9, from 4-6 PM. Those wishing to make donations in her memory may do so to Horizons c/o Gloria Soucie towards the Adopt-AChild Fund.
