Three to one, that’s how the North Windham sewer project was defeated by the voters which, as far as I am concerned, is a good thing. And then the Windham voters put two councilors into office that want the sewer project, which gives the Windham town council a majority to put forth another sewer project. But in today’s politics that does not surprise me because most voters don’t have a clue who or what they are voting for unless they believe it hits them hard in the wallet or guarantees them a government handout.

In Mitt Romney’s case, he was off just a few percentage points when he stated he would not seek the votes of the 47 percent who live off of government subsidies. After this last election, it is obvious that 51 percent of Americans would love government checks after Obama robs Peter to pay Paul. Peter is the one making over $250,000 a year.

First, the defeat of the Windham sewer project is because of the effort by Patrick Corey and some others as well. I am glad Patrick come forth and fought the good fight. What we as taxpayers should be ashamed of is the conduct of the majority of town councilors, town manager and staff as well.

As far as I am concerned, there should be an investigation as to whether or not our tax dollars were used to influence the outcome of the bond for the sewer project especially with the advertising that was done. I feel it should be done by officials from Augusta but that will never happen in Windham with its political ties to the present political party that is in control. Maybe the one good thing is that once the new Legislature is sworn in, that dynamic changes and maybe then we can demand an investigation.

But I caution all those who voted against the sewer, we haven’t seen the last. Already one Windham town councilor has proposed spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on another sewer study, which tells me we have town councilors who have no problem at raping our wallets and destroying our futures. Windham residents will see nothing change after this election. We will see a group of councilors that want more commercial development, and they will attempt to tax every property taxpayer to pay for the infrastructure needed for that growth.

What’s even worse, you will hear numerous developers and business owners claim that the commercial growth in Windham will lower your residential property tax bills. If any residential owner believes that, please let me know so that I can sell them some ocean front property in Arizona. That wacko theory is nothing more than a scheme to make us believe that paying more now will result in lower property taxes in the future. The simple truth is that they hope you are stupid enough to believe what they are saying.

As far as the rest of the political news of the election, please say a lot of prayers for America because we are going to need lots of prayers in order to survive in the future. Yes, I will state that the Republicans are their own worst enemy, which is exactly why I dropped out of that party years ago. I will also state that our public education system is finally achieving its goals of keeping children stupid while loving its socialist ideological goals. After reading the newspaper stories about voting and gay marriage in Maine schools, I will say it’s time parents are responsible for 100 percent of the cost of their children’s education and if they don’t like what they see happening, they can take their children out of a public school and educate their children where they want.

I highly suggest that all readers pay attention to the so-called fiscal cliff when the Bush tax cuts for personal and business taxes expire Jan. 1, 2013, if Congress does nothing to extend them. What’s even worse, some leading Democrats are proclaiming they are for the falling off the fiscal cliff and then they will rescue middle-income taxpayers afterwards.

There’s no doubt Congress needs an enema.
