BRUNSWICK — Edmund H. Gibson, 91, of 13 Wheeler Park, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at his home.

He was born in Newton, MA, October 2, 1921, the son of Alec and Ethel Cary Gibson. He graduated from Watertown High School, Lawrence Academy, and Bates College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Gibson married Patricia Hall in East Machias on August 21, 1954.

He taught school in Union, was Principal at Canton High School, was Assistant Principal at Washington Academy, and taught math at Bath Junior High School before retiring. He later worked for several years in Bath as a letter carrier. He established Bo Peep Nursery School in Brunswick with his wife in 1963, which they operated until 2002.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Gibson enjoyed following the teams at Bates College and the New York Yankees. He also was a lover of animals.

He was predeceased by a nephew, Richard Gibson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Susan G. Priest both of Brunswick; a brother, Richard C. Gibson and his wife, Merrill Pritham of Surry and Florida; two grandsons, Scott H. Priest of Belmont, MA and Robert T. Priest of Brunswick; 3 nieces, Virginia Gibson, Anne Gibson, and Elizabeth Dyer.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at First Parish Church, Maine Street, Brunswick, with the Rev. Mary Baard officiating. Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
