BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College sophomore Bryan Hurley has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Hurley recorded 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Polar Bears.
The guard scored a teamhigh 17 points in his team’s dramatic 74-70 victory at Bates on Thursday. With the game knotted at 70-70 in overtime, he converted a bankshot runner with 14 seconds left to give the Polar Bears the lead for good.
Hurley followed that up with 15 points, seven boards and five assists, including his team’s final four points, in a 64-58 win over Colby on Saturday.
Over the course of the week, he converted 52.2-percent of his shots from the field and drained three shots from beyond the arc.
Hurley and the Polar Bears entered the Holiday break having won four straight games and have a 5-2 record this season.
Bowdoin will return to action on Jan. 2 at Plymouth State before playing their NESCAC opener at home on Jan. 4 against Hamilton.
