BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College senior co-captain Daniel Weiniger has been named as the NESCAC’s Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week.
Weiniger piled up four goals and two assists in a perfect 3-0 week for Bowdoin.
After collecting two goals and an assist in 5-2 win at Southern Maine on Tuesday, the forward became the 34th Polar Bear to surpass 100 career points by scoring the game-winning goal at Tufts on Friday. He also added a helper in the 5-3 triumph. Weiniger scored another goal in a 7-1 win at Connecticut College on Saturday.
He leads the NESCAC with 14 points this season.
Bowdoin, which rose to No. 7 in the latest USCHO.com Division III poll released on Monday, is unbeaten after 10 games for the first time since 2001-02 and enter winter break without a loss for the first time since 2006-07.
Bowdoin is one of four remaining unbeaten teams in Division III along with Adrian, Norwich and Hobart.
The Polar Bears will return to action after the New Year when they take their longest road trip of the season to play at Amherst on Jan. 4 and at Hamilton on Jan. 5.
