Madlinger knocked down five 3-pointers, while Bryan Hurley had 12 points, seven assists and three steals. Maximilian Staiger also posted double figures with 12 points and five boards for the hosts.
Bowdoin held a slim 37-34 edge on the glass, but grabbed 12 offensive boards for 21 critical second-chance points. The Polar Bears also hit 10-of- 18 from 3-point range.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday evening at home against Maine Presque Isle at 7 p.m.
Women’s basketball
Kaitlin Donahoe racked up 23 points to lead Bowdoin to its third straight win, 47-40, over visiting Hamilton College on Friday evening.
The Polar Bears improved to 6-4 (1-0 NESCAC), while Hamilton dropped to 5-5 (0-1 NESCAC).
The 23 points for Donahoe are a season-best for the senior co-captain. She also dished out four assists and had five rebounds in the win. Freshman Shannon Brady collected her first career double double, totaling 12 points and 12 rebounds to go with five blocks. Brady’s five blocks are the third most in school history in a single game.
Bowdoin held a 44-33 edge on the boards and held Hamilton to 26.3-percent shooting for the game.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to visit Emmanuel tonight at 7 p.m.
Women’s ice hockey
Bowdoin goaltender Kayla Lessard recorded her second shutout in two days as the Polar Bears rolled to a 3-0 victory over Connecticut College in NESCAC action at Watson Arena.
Lessard made 23 saves as Bowdoin extended its unbeaten streak to nine games and improved to 8-1-1 (4-0 NESCAC). The Camels fell to 4-5-1 (1-4-1 NESCAC) with the loss.
In Friday’s contest, Chelsea MacNeil scored an opening period hat trick to lead the Polar Bears to a 4-0 win.
Men’s hockey
Sixth-ranked Bowdoin scored four goals in the third period to pull away from Hamilton for a 6-2 NESCAC victory on Saturday afternoon at Russell Sage Rink in Clinton, N.Y.
Six different players scored for the Polar Bears (11-0-1 overall, 7-0-1 NESCAC), who won their 10th straight game and improved to 8-0 away from home. The Polar Bears are 6-0-2 in their last eight meetings with the Continentals and are one of just two remaining unbeaten teams in Division III men’s ice hockey.
On Friday, Downey netted the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in the third period to lift the Polar Bears over 10thranked Amherst 3-2 at Orr Rink in Amherst, Mass.
Steve Messina improved to 7-0 with a 22-save performance.
