An elderly Westport Island woman suffered possible broken bones last Thursday after a collision on Ferry Road in Westport.
The Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Office said Elizabeth L. Montfort, 88, was hospitalized with injuries to her arm.
Police said Daryl L. Grant was operating his 2009 Ford Escape and attempting to make a left turn from Ferry Road onto Main Road on Jan. 10. Due a partial obstruction of trees, he did not see Montfort in her 2002 Mercedes- Benz, Deputy Brian Collamore said.
Grant pulled into Montfort’s path and struck her vehicle on the passenger side, then Montfort’s car crossed the center line, went off the road and struck a post, the deputy said.
Grant was not hurt, but a passenger was injured, Collamore said.
In an unrelated incident, on Sunday, a Newcastle woman suffered an arm injury in an accident on Bog Road in Dresden.
Lincoln County Sherriff ’s Deputy Matthew Day said Megan H. Libby, 27, of Newcastle, was driving her 2005 Ford Escape northbound and lost control on an icy roadway.
Her car crossed the southbound lane, left the road, encountered a snow bank and rolled on its roof.
