BATH — Gertrude Palmer, age 94, died at Winship Green Nursing Center Saturday, January 19, 2013.
She was born August 25, 1918 in Gardiner, Maine the daughter of George Murphy and Narene Gorton Murphy. She married Lewis Palmer in 1955. Mr. Palmer died in 1976.
She had one son Sherlock (Sonny) Murphy who died in 2009.
Mrs. Palmer loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and watching the cooking channel. Elvis pictures hung all her home. She loved to laugh, loved everyone and everyone loved her.
She is survived by and sadly missed by 5 grandchildren:
Lisa Murphy, Rodney Murphy, Brian Murphy, Robin Foster and Sandra Cogswell; step grandchildren, Brenda Rider and Kim Hanscom; 9 great grandchildren; her friend & personal caregiver, Patti York, several other step grandchildren and great grandchildren including Emily Brigham.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. Condolences and memories can be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com. Interment will take place in Varney Cemetery, Brunswick in the spring.
