BATH — Bath and Brunswick played the second of back-to-back games in middle school basketball action on Monday.
In the eighth-grade contest, the Destroyers held off the Huskies 32-28.
In a close game throughout, Amanda Gagne and Paige Daigle sank four free throws in the final minute to seal the win. Bath (5-5) led 9-6, 16-10 and 24-19 at the quarter breaks.
Gagne led all scorers with 14 points. Ann Tolan had six, and Noa Sreden and Daigle four apiece. Hope Faulkingham and Kelsea Albertson each had two points.
Isabel Doran, Emily Platteter and Samantha Brown turned in strong defensive performances.
Brianna Newton was the high scorer for Brunswick with 10 points.
In the nightcap, the Bath girls prevailed 26-13, posting quarter leads of 10-2, 17-5 and 20-7.
Sierra Wallace led all scorers with 11 points for Bath, while Emma Gould poured in six, Aubrey Martin had five and Macie Gagne four.
Margaret Keating, Eva Machnitzky, Mariah Albertson, Maddie McDonough, Sophie Wilson, Mae Winglass, Katy Tucker and Loren Boubel played strong defense.
Bath finished the season with a 6-4 record.
