BRUNSWICK — Longfellow Days, an annual celebration of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, begins Feb. 2 and continues through the rest of the month with several events that touch upon Longfellow’s friendship with British novelist Charles Dickens.
The first week of events will include readings by local poets, a tour of Longfellow’s former home (now the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum), and discussions about the friendship between Longfellow and Dickens. Events later in the month will include music and film, in addition to the regular servings of literature and poetry.
Longfellow Days is run by the Brunswick Downtown Association, in conjunction with Bowdoin College, Maine Arts Commission, Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, Nathaniel Davis Fund, Alfred M. Senter Fund and the Association of Bowdoin Friends.
More information about all of the events can be found online at http://www.brunswickdowntown.com/longfellowdays.
