AUGUSTA — Warsame Mohamed scored a game-high 18 points as the second-seeded Hyde School boys basketball team defeated No. 7 Seacoast Christian 45-35 in the Western Maine Class D quarterfinals at the Augusta Civic Center on Saturday.
The 15-3 Phoenix, who take on No. 2 Valley on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Western D semifinals, trailed 13-10 after a quarter, but held a dominating 14-2 edge in the second for a 24-15 lead at the half. Hyde led 37-25 after 24 minutes.
Benjamin Burlock and Wilson MacMillan added six points each for Hyde, which split its season series with Valley, winning 72-69 at Bath and losing on the road 60-54. Valley defeated No. 6 Greenville 62-56 in the quarters.
Logan Archer had 13 points for Seacoast Christian (10-9).
At the foul line, Hyde was one for three and Seacoast Christian six of 11.
