HARPSWELL — A charter school scheduled to open in the fall has named its education consultant as head of school.
Harpswell Coastal Academy said in a news release Friday that John D’Anieri will be the school’s superintendent and principal.
D’Anieri previously helped start Poland Regional High School and Casco Bay High School in Portland.
The school’s application was unanimously approved Feb. 5 by the Maine Charter School Commission and plans to open this fall with 30 sixthgrade students and 30 ninthgrade students.
The school will eventually serve 280 students in grades 6- 12 by the 2017-18 school year.
Tonight in Bath, the school will hold the first of three public meetings to offer information to prospective students. The meeting is 7 p.m., at Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St. Other meetings are set for Freeport and Brunswick.
