Norma worked at Burgess Market as a cashier and bookkeeper for many years. Norma was a lady who never met a stranger, she was a people person. In 1977 she opened the Montsweag Flea Market, which is a Maine Tradition. She put her heart and soul into the flea market and loved her flea market family dearly. Better Homes & Gardens, Down East and Yankee Magazine where among the many magazines that ran articles, as well as newspaper interviews, featured stories and The Maine’s Treasure Hunt TV show was taped twice at her Wednesday’s antique market, also her flea market was filmed as part of a Hollywood movie scene, and even a magazine in Japan wrote about the flea market, using the photos as a hidden object game. Under her caring leadership, Montsweag Flea Market became the number 1 Flea Market in the state of Maine and a must stop for Maine visitors across the U.S. and abroad.
She also had a passion for nature, scenic drives was something she always looked forward to. Late night drives to Bar Harbor to Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunrise with her daughter, friends and family. Pemiquid was also favorite place of hers, and having lobster on the rocks will remain a family tradition. She spent many winters with family and friends in Venice Beach, Florida, collecting shark teeth on the beach was one of her pleasures.
Norma was a special lady, hugs were a must for all and she will be sadly missed by all that loved her.
Norma is predeceased by grandson, TJ Roupe and stepgrandson, Joshua Scopino.
She leaves behind, her husband of 25 years, Leo Scopino Sr.; her daughter Gena Kilkenny and her husband Erald Jr. of Woolwich; step son, Leo Scopino Jr.; grandchildren, Norma Kilkenny and her husband Erald III of Westerville, Oh, Eric Roupe of Woolwich, step-grandchildren, Kimberley Scopino of West Enfield and Travis Scopino of FL; great grandchildren, Evan, Christina, and Alyssa Kilkenny of Westerville Oh., Natalie and Annabelle Roupe of Lewiston; step-grandchildren, Ryan Scopino, Leo G. Scopino, and Lilli Scopino; sisters, Shirley Mosher and Carole Hunnewell both of Brunswick; niece, Lori Bailey of Woolwich and nephews, David Moore of Kentucky, Darelle Moore of Indiana, James V. Hunnewell of Pennsylvania and Daniel Comisky of Pennsylvania and the beloved girls, “Gidggi” and “Ditto” her faithful shitzu’s.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2013, from 4:00 – 6:00pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 at 2:00pm the Open Bible Baptist Church, 12 Lenfest Lane, Bath. A reception will follow at the church.
