Mike owned and operated Tahoe Lake Cottages in Tahoma for 22 years where he loved meeting and hosting his guests winter, summer and fall, many of those folks becoming lifelong friends. He was passionate about Lake Tahoe and enjoyed everything to the fullest, with favorite hobbies of skiing, snowmobiling, hockey, boating, golfing and dirt bike riding. Anything and everything that involved going fast, taking risks, and pushing the envelope was sure to be in bounds when Mike was playing.
Most of all Mike was so proud of his beautiful family and all of the moments spent with his children, nieces and nephews. Taking time to live and cherish these moments were his most important hobby.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jillian Penelope, mother-in-law Penelope Osborn Lipe and father-inlaw, James W. Lipe Sr.
Michael is survived by his wife, Julie Lipe Lafferty of Salinas, daughters, Taylor Ann Lafferty, of South Lake Tahoe, Megan Joy Lafferty of South Lake Tahoe, Lindy Leigh Lafferty of Salinas, son, Aidan Thomas Lafferty of Salinas, parents Donald & Barbara Lafferty of The Villages, FL, brother, Thomas (Karen) Lafferty of Scarborough, ME, sister Martha Lafferty and Nancy Talbot of Saco, ME.
