PORTLAND — Mary A. Casey, 92, formerly of Portland, died April 4 at South Portland Nursing Home.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1921, in South Portland, a daughter of Hector and Leah Casey.

She attended South Portland schools, graduating from South Portland High School. She worked for Sears as a clerk and retired more than 32 years ago. A communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Casey always had something nice to say about everyone. She was funny, honest, and was always “dressed to kill.” She was larger than life.

Casey was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Fleming; and a brother, Emile Casey. Survivors include her sister, Cora McDonough, of Wilton, Conn.; her brother, Joseph Casey, and his wife, Sylvia, of Sisters, Ore.; and five nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held last Thursday at St. Patrick’s Church. in Portland. Casey was buried at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Those desiring may make donations to the South Portland Nursing Home Residence Council, 42 Anthoine St., South Portland, ME 04106.

Casey’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at South Portland Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care they gave her in the years she lived there.
