Frank Arthur Gallagher, 93, surrounded by loved ones passed away peacefully at Winship Green nursing home in Bath, Maine on Friday, May 24, 2013 after a long illness.

Frank was born February 24, 1920 in Bath, Maine, proud son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Gallagher. Frank, also known as “Hank” to his close friends and family was a graduate of Morse High School where he was a prominent athlete and lettered in several sports. After graduation Frank worked in the Tinshop before entering the Army and going to war in Eastern Europe during WW II. After the war Frank returned to and later retired from Bath Iron Works. Frank was married to and predeceased in 1996 by his wife, Barbara Young Gallagher, also of Bath.

Hank was an avid golfer; he was a long-time member of the Bath Country Club and past member of the Bath Elks Lodge.

Frank is survived by a son, Frank D. “Bud” Gallagher and wife Susan of Westport Island; a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Ann) G. Bever of Dresden; three grandchildren, Paul Gallagher of Epsom, New Hampshire, Elizabeth Hardy of Litchfield, Maine and Gregory Govoni of Deltona, Florida. Frank has one surviving sister — Louise Arsenault — originally from Bath, Maine.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Philips Episcopal Church, 11 Hodge St., Wiscasset, Maine.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morse High School Scholarship Fund, Class of 1940.
