TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School softball team recovered after Bath erased a six-run deficit for an 11-7 victory on Monday.
Down 6-0 after three innings, the Destroyers scored three runs in the fourth and four in the seventh for a 7-6 lead. The Eagles struck right back, plating three runs in the fifth for a 9-7 edge.
Kate Guerin and Katelyn Cox were each 2-for-2 for Mt. Ararat, including a triple for Cox and a double from Guerin. Kieley Hetherington also doubled, and Laura Secone and Caitlyn Witwicki each singled.
On the mound, Rhiannon Hersey and Kristen Graffam combined on seven strikeouts and five walks. Witwicki was involved in seven outs at second base, including a double play.
For Bath, Marissa Parks went the distance on seven strikeouts and 10 walks.
Rosie Varien, Hope Faulkingham, Parks, Arielle Leeman and Mikayla Williams each singled for the visitors. Bath catcher Mikayla Rose was solid behind the plate, while Faulkingham made several plays at shortstop.
