WISCASSET — The town has been selected to receive $1.2 million — a loan of $974,000 and a grant of $226,000 — to replace and reline 6,500 feet of sewer mains and to upgrade three pump stations to improve flow rates and efficiency.
USDA Rural Development announced the award this week, part of nearly $3 million in grants to aid water projects in rural communities throughout Maine.
Other awards went to projects in Norridgewock, the Passamaquoddy’s Pleasant Point Reservation, the Hancock County Planning Commission, the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments and the Northern Maine Development Commission Inc.
