GORHAM – Gorham Fire Chief Robert Lefebvre said Monday that a Gorham home at 135 Brackett Road sustained only minimal damage after being struck by lightning at 6:52 p.m. in the storm on June 23.
Lefebvre said there was a significant amount of flames when firefighters arrived but the blaze was confined to the attic and second floor ceilings. He said firefighters from Buxton, Hollis, Scarborough, Standish and Westbrook assisted Gorham in the three-alarm blaze.
There is no public water supply in the area and the home is located up a long driveway. Lefebvre said no one was injured.
Residents stayed at their daughter’s home Sunday evening, Lefebvre said, and he added that some electrical work would be necessary at the home.
“Crews did a great job of getting in on it and getting it knocked down,” Lefebvre said.
