The new town office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; closed Wednesday. For more information 353-2561.
Meetings
Durham selectmen will meet Tuesdays, July 16 and 30, at 6:30 p.m., in the Durham Town Office.
The Durham Planning Board meets Wednesday, July 10, at 7 p.m., in the Durham Town Office. That is a change because of the Fourth of July holiday.
Meetings will resume the first Wednesday of the month in August.
CEO available
The codes enforcement officer is available on Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, from 5-7 p.m., at the Durham Town Office.
Masons cooking beans
A bean supper will be on Saturday, July 13, from 4:30-6 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge, located on Route 136 across from the River Park. The prices are $7.50 adults, $3 children ages 5-12 and free for children under 5. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.
Historical society open for public July 20
The Durham Historical Society is holding Open Days again this summer. The Old Town Hall/Union Church located on Route 136, Royalsborough Road, will be open to the public on Saturday, July 20, from 1- 3 p.m. Built in 1835 through the combined efforts of the Baptist, Methodist and Congregationalists, this historic building now houses the Durham Historical Society and artifacts. The Congregationalist Church held services here from 1947 until 1951. The building also served as the Town Office from 1924 – 1986.
The society also extended its thanks for the public support of the recent Community Art Show and bake sale.
Food pantry open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Lisbon Area Christian Outreach serves the Towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon Falls.
The hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday 8-10 a.m. The Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street. The parking lot for the food pantry is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church off Berry Avenue. In addition to the food pantry thee is a free clothing bank. Summer lunches free for kids
Free lunches are available to all kids and teens age 18 and under. There are four sites in Freeport: at the Freeport Community Center, Mast Landing School, Morse Street School, and Village View Apartments Community Room. All lunches are served from 11:30-noon. Community center for rent
The Durham Eureka Community Center is available to rent for small groups of 50 or less. It is appropriate for showers, birthday gatherings and meetings. Contact Anita Sellars for more information, 353-6217.

The First Congregational Church of Durham has services at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Services for the Shiloh Church are every Sunday at 10 a.m.
