To the Editor:
There are many thanks due to all those who helped the Cundys Harbor Library have a successful book sale July 19- 20. It was a monumental effort.
First, thanks go to the donors of a wide variety of books, tapes and CDs; to those who sorted some 3,000 books, to those who hefted boxes to the Community Hall and arranged them on tables there; and, finally, to those who transported leftover books to local charities.
Thanks also go to the donors of food for the bake sale, and to Janice Treadwell who set up the food display.
Then there were those who donated services for our raffle: a numbered print of Vivian Wixom’s “Rose Cottage” donated by Mary Welner, won by Janice Treadwell; a Hancock Gourmet Lobster Company gift certificate won by Barrie Wallace; a gift certificate for Holbrook’s Snack Bar donated by Gilmore’s Seafood, won by Pam Bichrest; and a gift certificate for Rhonda’s Family Hair Care, donated by Rhonda Copp and won by Jane Hillburt Davis.
The library Board of Directors is grateful for this continued show of community support and extends an invitation to take advantage of our growing list of services made possible by fundraisers like this.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
