FREEPORT — Freeport High School athletic director Craig Sickels has announced dates and times for upcoming fall sports practices.
The fall season gets under way next Thursday at 7 p.m. with “Preseason Information Night,” to be held at Freeport High School Performing Arts Center.
The first week of preseason begins on Aug. 19.
Boys soccer — All boys in grades 9-12 to report at the high school soccer field Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.,.
After first three days of tryouts, beginning on Thursday, practices as follows: varsity (same field and time), jayvees (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) and First Team (TBA).
Girls soccer — All girls grades 9-12 to report at high school soccer field on Monday (8 a.m. to noon) with team meeting, paper work and forms.
Team practices Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Field hockey — All girls in grades 9-12 at high school field hockey field: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Cross country — All boys and girls in grades 9-12 to meet at front lawn of the high school at 5 p.m.
Golf — All golfers in grades 9-12 to meet at Toddy Brook Golf Club on Sligo Road, North Yarmouth, Monday through Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Golfers should make arrangements for their own transportation to and from Toddy Brook and appropriate golf attire is required — no jeans or T-shirts.
Cheerleading — Boys and girls in grade 9-12 to meet at high school Cafe Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. — this is a change from last year.
Football — Boys and girls in grades 9-12 to meet at Pownal Road Recreation Field Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A home scrimmage versus Boothbay is planned for Aug. 26 (4 p.m.), followed by a double session on Aug. 29 (8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.).
Players should make arrangements for their own transportation to and from practice.
Football equipment and pads will be issued on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m., with players to report to the back door of the high school gym.
Players must have a signed contract and physical form, concussion sign-off form, and impact permission form to receive equipment and pads.
