PORTLAND (AP) — Portland police say a man has been arrested following a brief standoff that led to the closing of part of Dartmouth Street near the University of Southern Maine.

Witnesses told WGAN-AM that police with rifles drawn swarmed a home between Brighton and Deering avenues after a report of a fight in which one of the parties allegedly had a gun Thursday morning.

The man retreated into a house but was arrested after a standoff.

Police say nobody was injured, and Dartmouth Street was reopened.
