LISBON

Police arrested two people and charged 11 minors and five juveniles with various liquor law violations in response to an alleged underage drinking party Wednesday night.

Police received an anonymous tip that an underage drinking party was taking place on Crest Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday.

After investigating, police arrested Zachary Childs, 21, of Oxford, and charged him with furnishing liquor to minors, a misdemeanor. He was transported to Androscoggin County Jail, as was Elyssa Hubert, 18, of Lisbon, who was arrested and charged with providing a place for illegal consumption, a misdemeanor crime; and summonsed for allowing minors to possess or consume alcohol.

Childs and Hubert are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 9 for arraignment.

Five juveniles involved will be referred to a Juvenile Community Correction worker in Auburn, and a decision will be made as to whether the juveniles will face court action.

“The police department has a long history of working to combat the issues of underage drinking in the community and would like to take this opportunity to remind young people and their parents of the serious consequences that can happen when youth use alcohol,” Lisbon police said in a news release. “The youth at this party parked away from the residence, at a public lot, in an attempt to avoid being detected. It is believed that when the party ended, many of the youth would have returned to their vehicles to drive away, putting themselves and others at risk.”
