BRUNSWICK — After taking in a large number of cats from a hoarder on Sunday, the Coastal Humane Society is hosting a Mega Cat Adoption “Catapalooza” 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Coastal Humane Society hopes to adopt out nearly 50 cats taken from a hoarding situation, when more than 50 cats were taken from a small Freeport mobile home earlier this summer, bringing the total from that rescue to about 100 cats.
Many have already been adopted, but homes are needed for the remaining cats. All the cats have been spayed or neutered and given a clean bill of health by shelter veterinarian Mandie Wehr.
The shelter will waive the adoption fees for all cats 1 year or older. They will also have a tent for small animals including bunnies, rats, birds and chinchillas, who will also be fee-waived.
The “Catapalooza” event will be held at 190 Pleasant St.
