BURLESON, Texas — Louise Anne Putney Remington, 78, lost her fight with cancer on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, and passed peacefully in Burleson.

The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes in Fort Worth. Burial in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

The visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Louise was born in Franklin, NH, on Feb. 2, 1935, to Charles Putney and Elizabeth McNutt. She married the love of her life Frank H. Remington on Nov. 30, 1957.

She was a devoted mother of 5 and a dedicated teacher for 26 years in Topsham, ME. Louise was a major supporter and rock to her military husband who served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. It brought her much joy to share her hobbies such as painting, cooking, knitting and sewing with her family and loved ones. She was a selfless individual by teaching her joy of sewing and knitting with others. She had a soft heart for animals and has left behind her dog Brownie and cat Cali. During her last few months home while battling cancer her dog Brownie was her “watch dog,” not leaving her side in her famous recliner.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Garrett Remington, 3 nephews, dog Happi Jo and cat Suzy Belle.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Frank; children, Amanda Combs and husband Benjamin, Laura Gilchrist, Frank Remington Jr., Roxana Hodges and husband Michael, and Roderick Remington; grandchildren, Douglas Wooden Jr. and wife Nikki, Andrea Wooden and dog BeBe, Amy Remington, Meagan Gilchrist, Jackie Hodges, Tracy Hodges, Lindsay Hodges, and Heidi Hodges; stepgrandchildren, Jason Combs and wife Heather; great-grandchildren, Kinley Combs and Brayden Wooden; brothers, Fred Putney and wife Betty, and William Putney; several nieces and nephews.
