To the Editor:
As another school year is well under way, students of the Brunswick High School music program continue to receive an outstanding opportunity to hone instrumental and choral abilities and grow as musicians.
Under the direction of Ashley Smith, chorus; and Michael Scarpone, band, both groups have received recognition for musical performances within our community. Musical ensembles and individual musicians have also attained state and national recognition.
If you haven’t had the chance to enjoy a performance by BHS students, the Brunswick High School Music Boosters hopes you’ll join us at our Night of Swing and Jazz, Saturday, Nov. 9.
The evening will begin with a silent auction and complimentary dessert buffet at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. At 7 p.m., the Brunswick High School Jazz Ensemble will take the Crooker Theater stage followed by the Opus One Big Band.
Tickets at the door are $10, adults; $5, students. Proceeds will solely benefit more than 200 talented BHS music students.
We hope you’ll join us.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
