BRUNSWICK — The assassination of America’s 35th president continues to be a seminal moment in the country’s history, as evidenced by author R. Neil Laughlin’s book “The Day the World Cried as One.”
Laughlin, an Iowa native who now lives in Brunswick, will hold a special “author’s chat” to discuss the book at 2 p.m. on Nov. 20 at People Plus, 35 Union St., two days before the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s death.
The book includes a collection of 63 stories by ordinary people who were “caught up in a most extraordinary event,” Laughlin said.
Laughlin took to writing “The Day the World Cried as One” as a special project, because he “believed it needed to be done.”
The author’s chat is free and open to the public. For more information, or to register in advance, call 729- 0757 or email [email protected]

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
