Deb Luce, at left, a fourth-grade teacher at Manchester School in Windham known locally as a strong proponent of teaching citizenship, patriotism and community commitment to her students, was recently nominated by Windham Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10643 to the national competition for VFW Teacher of the Year. Making the announcement at last week’s Veterans Day ceremony at the Windham Veterans Center were former post commander Bob Akins, middle, and Roger Timmons, current post commander.
