BATH — Andrew (Andy ) V. Barter, 60, of Bath, passed away suddenly on Dec. 9, 2013. Andy was born in Bath, Maine, on Sept. 18, 1953, to Herman and Ethelyn Gray Barter.
He grew up in Bath and Five Islands. Andy was a proud member of the Morse High School class of 1972.
Surviving are his daughter Amanda Patterson and her daughters Kylie Jane and Morgan Lynn of Bowdoin; son Brian Richard and his wife Ashley and their daughter Naytalia Aurora, age 15 months, and his daughter Katie Lyn Barter, all of Bath; his sisters Diana Barter of Brunswick and Francis Gray Barter of Fort Fairfield; and his former wife and close friend, Kathy Barter. He is also is survived by two nephews and many nieces.
Everybody loved Andy. His character was impeccable: very kind, compassionate, giving, intelligent, funny, and silly.
His passions included the Beatles, golfing with his buddies, the Sunday morning paper with his coffee, his cats, the Three Stooges, and most of all his loving family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Five Islands Baptist Church where there will be a potluck lunch after.
In lieu of flowers, donations accepted in Andy’s name at the Bath Savings Institution.
