AUBURN — A slow start cost the Bath Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team in a 31-23 setback to Auburn on Monday.
The 1-2 Destroyers trailed 13-1 after a quarter, 19-8 at the half and 25-13 through three.
Sierra Wallace led Bath with seven points, with Emma Gould adding five, Marissa Parks four and Mackenzie Johnston three.
Madeline Mitchell, Sophie Wilson and Micailah Albertson played well on defense for Bath, which finished six of 15 at the foul line.
On Wednesday at Mt. Ararat, Bath fell 40-22.
The Eagles posted quarter leads of 8-4, 14-6 and 24-17.
Taylor Wienchowski had 10 points for Mt. Ararat, with Lauren Sturgess chipping in eight and Caitlyn Smith seven.
Johnston had 11 points for Bath, with Wallace adding six and Gould four. Bath was one for five at the foul line, while Mt. Ararat finished nine of 22.
Rose Varian and Moriah Albertson played well on defense for Bath.
