Efforts are ongoing to help four Freeport families who have been victimized by fires in the past month.

Freeport Community Services has helped with immediate needs. People wishing to assist the fire victims can do so in the following ways:

To make a donation to the Darby family, who were burned out of their Griffin Road home, stop by the Freeport branch of Norway Savings Bank. You can also make a donation online at the “Anna Darby and family” page on the Norway Savings Bank website.

To make a donation for the Scott and Argraves families, who lost their home on Ware Road, stop by any branch of Atlantic Federal Credit Union. You can also make a donation online at the credit union’s “Ware Road Freeport Fire Victims helpline” page.

To make a donation for the Peacock family, who lost their Starboard Lane home to fire, stop by the Freeport Atlantic Federal Credit Union. You can also make a donation online at the credit union’s “Diane and Richard Peacock Family Fund” page.

A benefit supper and silent auction for the Scott and Argraves families is set for Saturday, Feb. 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on Mallett Drive in Freeport. There will be home-baked beans, macaroni and cheese, desserts and beverages for $7 per person.
