Buxton, Hollis Democrats to caucus

Ron Usher of Buxton, a former state senator from Westbrook, has announced that Buxton and Hollis Democrats will caucus jointly at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, in Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road.

Usher said the caucus would select its choices as state candidates. He said Sen. Jim Boyle, D-Gor, and Sen. Linda Valentino, D-Saco, will speak.

Dorcas society to celebrate Mardi Gras

The Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton will observe Mardi Gras with a dinner-dance on Saturday, March 1, at the Bar Mills Parish House on Route 4 in Buxton.

Sharon House of the society said a lasagna dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by line dancing at 7.

“There will be line dance lessons for singles and couples, and door prizes as well,” House said.

The cost is $10, with proceeds benefiting the Dorcas Society’s scholarship and local charities.

The society’s Valentine’s dinner-dance on Feb. 15 was cancelled because of a snowstorm.

“We are now planning to celebrate that we are closer to spring,” House said. “Come join us for good food and good fun.”
