Believe it or not, spring is just around the corner and the Windham Clothes Closet could use donations of “gently used” and even new clothes items to get ready for the warmer weather. There are still warm coats, sweaters, and tops available to help get through this final cold snap. Everything is free. Just a couple of weeks ago, we found a beautiful 100-percent wool Pendleton cape in perfect condition. Check out this resource when you or someone you know is in need. The Clothes Closet is open Monday and Tuesday morning, and is located at the Human Services building, across from Friends Church on Route 202 near Windham Center.

Legion Seeks Girls State applications

Attention all junior girls at the Windham-Raymond High School, private schools and those home-schooled in the Windham area. The Girls State convention is to be held at Husson University from June 15-20 and is a great opportunity for motivated young women to immerse themselves in a week of comradeship and politic process.

Junior girls interested in attending can make their intentions known by submitting their names to their school’s guidance office or contacting the Field-Allen Post Americanism Officer, Dennis Marshall at 627-1014 by the first of April. For those in public or private school, your school guidance office will review the list for eligibility and forward names to the American Legion Post with a priority recommendation (primary, alternate etc). The Post will then review the list, make selections, and notify the candidates as to status. Those not selected may be listed as alternates.

Those selected will have to file appropriate registration forms for submission prior to the April 15. Forms not submitted by that date or incomplete forms submitted after that date may not be considered.

Selected candidates will have their convention delegate cost paid for by the American Legion Post.
