Tea at the Library

Tea for You at the Library will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. Drop in, enjoy tea and goodies, and share conversation. Bring friends. The library is at 217 Windham Center Road, Windham.

Veterans Services

Veteran Service Officer Jerry Smith will be available on the 9th and 23rd of April at the Windham Veterans Center from 9 a.m. to noon. Smith is here to answer VA questions and assist with VA related forms and information about benefits.

Roast Turkey Dinner

A roast turkey dinner takes place on Saturday, April 12, from 4:45-6 p.m. at the Highland Lake Grange No. 87 located at the corner of Hardy Road and Route 302. There will be roast turkey, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, gravy, bread, beverages and dessert. Adults $8. Children under 12, $4.

VFW Meets

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10643 will meet on Wednesday, April 9, at the Windham Veterans Center. Supper will start at 5 p.m. and a meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Election of officers is on the agenda. The center is located behind the Windham Mall (Hannaford). Take Veterans Drive by Friendly’s and follow to the end.

Marriage Intentions

Recent marriage intentions filed at the Town Clerk’s office include Keven Osgood and Elizabeth Scheetz, Matthew Brin and Johanna Maust, and Scott Van Valkenburgh and Micaela Kimball, all from Windham.

Haddock Dinner

On Saturday, April 5, the Windham Council of the Knights of Columbus, will host a fresh baked haddock dinner from 5-6 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Route 302, North Windham. Adults, $9; children 12 and under, $4 and family maximum, $25. The menu includes haddock, mashed potato, vegetable, cole slaw rolls, beverages and homemade dessert buffet. Proceeds from the dinner will go towards funding Riding to the Top, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people with disabilities reach their highest potential through the healing power of horses.

Community Meal

A free community meal will be served on Saturday, April 26, from 4:30-6 p.m. at Christ Chapel in Raymond. All ages are welcome and the meal is open to the surrounding communities. The menu includes baked ham, rice pilaf, casseroles, salads, turkey stew and desserts, continually served, buffet style. Christ Chapel is at 37 Northern Pines Road, off Route 85 near Crescent Lake in Raymond.

Alumni Banquet

Windham High School Alumni banquet will be held on Saturday, May 17, at the Windham Middle School. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Reservation forms will be going out mid-April. Sue Simonson, secretary, appreciates all the alumni members who have provided email addresses – a big money saver. Contact Sue at [email protected]. Norma Rogers will chair the raffle table again this year. If you have an item or items to donate, contact her at 892-5608. This year’s class honorees are: 50 Years – The Class of ’64 and 25 Years – the Class of ’89! ’Tweens and Teens: join us at the Windham Public Library for the monthly TNT Club. It’s for kids only (grades 6-12), it’s free, and it’s fun. The group talks about books, audios and movies of a certain theme, then snack out and do an activity. Bring your friends! Summer Fundraiser

The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals will hold a summer fundraiser, “Horses Through the Lens,” featuring the work of Maine equine photographers at the Italian Heritage Center on Thursday, June 19.The event will showcase the work of several prominent Maine equine photographers as well as include a silent auction, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, music and a cash bar. Dancing with the Staff

“Dancing with the Staff”, an annual Windham High School Project Graduation event, began on March 27. The finale will be on Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Windham Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at all RSU 14 schools. Adults are $10 and students are $5 per show. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. This event is always a sellout, so plan to purchase your tickets now.

National Library Week

Windham Public Library will celebrate National Library Week on Monday, April 14, by hosting a “Declaration for the Right to Libraries” signing. At 4 p.m., presentations will be by State Librarian Linda Lord, author Julia Spencer-Fleming, illustrator Kevin Hawkes, town officials and library staff. The public is invited to attend and observe the unveiling of the new library logo. Refreshments will be served.

Fundraiser Seeking Plants

Windham Historical Society wants your extra plants! The society is holding its annual Plant Sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 24, from 8-5 p.m. at the museum headquarters, Windham Center Road. The historical gardeners are seeking donation of extra plants you may have – when you’re cleaning out your flower gardens and hedges, remember to call 892-1433 and leave a message or e-mail [email protected].
