To the Editor:
First, I must say that Mr. Eldridge, as far as I’m concerned, we should vote him as our new town manager rather than looking for someone from out of town.
These school departments are getting out of hand. They got two new schools and now want raises and more benefits.
Police and Fire Departments want money? Why? They have a police station and two fire stations now that cost plenty.
They raised my taxes a year ago that almost floored me. Because some of us live on the water we pay dearly. What difference does that make? Now we have the Brunswick Landing where the aviation dealer doesn’t want to pay taxes. Well, then, pack your bags and get lost. Now it’s Goodwill they want here. Do they pay taxes or not? I’m 81 years old and my taxes are now over $3,000. Besides mortgage, taxes, insurance, health insurance, electricity, and food, I’m just about making ends meet.
We should be bringing business to Brunswick that will pay taxes.
Thank you very much, Mr. Eldridge, for your concern for us taxpayers.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
