BRUNSWICK — The Mt. Ararat Middle School softball team turned back Brunswick Junior High School, 14-1 at Edwards Field on Tuesday.
Brunswick pitcher Shea Sullivan walked 10 and gave up seven hits, while Mt. Ararat hurler Morgan Johnson struck out six, walked six and gave up two hits.
Natalie Ormsby and Johnson had two singles each, Zoe Stilphen a single and a double, Kayleigh Temple and Nichole Ricker a single each, Kelsey Scannevin a double and Chloe Beede a triple.
Ormsby scored four runs, while Isabella Benner had three and Stilphen two.
Third baseman Beede was a defensive standout, while catchers Temple and Ormsby played well, keeping the ball in front of them and not allowing steals or passed balls. Johnson was solid in the field, assisting several outs.
