Gray-New Gloucester High School’s Top Students

During my time at GNGHS, I was highly involved in activities, such as National Honor Society, Community Service Club, Student Council, band, field hockey, indoor track, and outdoor track. I also assumed several leadership positions such as senior co-captain of my field hockey team, secretary of National Honor Society, and coordinator of many Community Service Club projects. Next year I will attend the University of Maine at Orono to major in pre-veterinary medicine.

I transferred into GNG High School for my junior and senior years. Since then I have participated in cross country and drama, and I sing in the high school’s chamber choir. Next year I will attend Cedarville University to major in Physics and minor in Bible with the intention of becoming a medical physicist.

I have been in many activities in high school including the National Honor Society, Community Service Club and sports. I played three years of golf making it to the state tournament in my senior year. I played two years of basketball and supported the team from a coaching position in my third year. I committed to four years of baseball, but only played three due to a knee surgery. I was captain for two years. I will be attending the University of Maine at Orono next year majoring in wildlife biology.

I have participated in many activities and groups in my high school career. Some of my favorites were soccer, indoor track, and National Honor Society. I have also enjoyed many of the opportunities outside the classroom, especially my trip to Europe. Next year I will attend the University of Maine at Orono, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

I am one of seven students at Gray-New Gloucester who are enrolled in International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The seven of us are the first students from our school to be diploma candidates. Aside from academics I have been involved in a range of extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Community Service Club, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Cross Country, Nordic Skiing, Soccer, and the Patriot Players Drama Club where I recently held the lead-role in their musical production. Next year I will attend the University of Rhode Island majoring in both Biomedical Engineering and German through their International Exchange Program for engineers.

Aside from the rigorous courses I chose to take throughout my time in high school I have been heavily involved in Portland Ballet’s C.O.R.P.S. Program, a pre-professional training program for dance. In addition to my regular classes I participated in many performances and community service and outreach projects with both the school and the company. Outside of school and dance I have maintained more than one job throughout my high school education. Next year I will be studying art history and chemistry at Barnard College.

I have played the tenor saxophone in the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble since freshman year and have been 1st chair for the past two years. I have also been a soloist in the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra. I’m a four-year member of the Varsity Nordic ski team and am also in the Community Service Club and National Honor Society. I am an avid hiker and backpacker and plan on hiking the Continental Divide Trail. I will be attending Bates College in the fall.

During my time in high school I participated in varsity soccer, track & field, and a season of alpine skiing. I’ve also been a member of the Concert Band, Community Service Club, and the National Honor Society.  This fall, I hope to attend either the University of Maine or the University of Vermont.

I have been involved in Drama, Band, and Nordic Skiing.  Next year, I will attend the University of Maine at Farmington, and I will double major in English and Creative Writing.

As a student at GNGHS, I have participated in cross-country, basketball, indoor and outdoor track, Community Service Club and National Honor Society. As a member of my respective sports programs, I have served as captain for the cross-county and basketball teams. This fall I will attend Dartmouth College with a plan of majoring in Biology. In addition, I will compete for the Big Green on the track and cross-country teams.

Throughout my four years, I have been very involved here at GNGHS. Some of these activities and academics include Community Service Club, National Honor Society, Track and Field, and the IB and AP programs. I greatly enjoy giving back to my community through community service and love being a part of a magnificent track team. Next year I will attend the University of Pittsburgh at their Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences with an aspiring major in Biology.
