I have been in many activities in high school including the National Honor Society, Community Service Club and sports. I played three years of golf making it to the state tournament in my senior year. I played two years of basketball and supported the team from a coaching position in my third year. I committed to four years of baseball, but only played three due to a knee surgery. I was captain for two years. I will be attending the University of Maine at Orono next year majoring in wildlife biology.

JOSHUA HARPER
I am one of seven students at Gray-New Gloucester who are enrolled in International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The seven of us are the first students from our school to be diploma candidates. Aside from academics I have been involved in a range of extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Community Service Club, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Cross Country, Nordic Skiing, Soccer, and the Patriot Players Drama Club where I recently held the lead-role in their musical production. Next year I will attend the University of Rhode Island majoring in both Biomedical Engineering and German through their International Exchange Program for engineers.

Aside from the rigorous courses I chose to take throughout my time in high school I have been heavily involved in Portland Ballet’s C.O.R.P.S. Program, a pre-professional training program for dance. In addition to my regular classes I participated in many performances and community service and outreach projects with both the school and the company. Outside of school and dance I have maintained more than one job throughout my high school education. Next year I will be studying art history and chemistry at Barnard College.
