
He was born in Pasadena, CA on Sept. 8, 1960, the son of Richard A. and Jacqueline A. (Hawkins) Miller. Raised in a loving home, his parents encouraged their children’s education and instilled a work ethic that led Mike to many satisfying and successful endeavors.
Growing up in Covina, CA, Mike attended the First Presbyterian Church of Covina, the local schools, and the University of California- Santa Barbara, where he graduated with honors earning double bachelor of arts degrees in Pre-Law and Business Economics. Mike was very proud of his education and accomplishments.
After college, he became a very successful real estate broker, specializing in industrial and investment properties.
Mike traveled extensively, visiting wonderful places all over the globe, and made many trips to his favorite destination, Hawaii. An avid reader, he also enjoyed politics, art, music and unique items he found in his travels. He liked watching and attending all sporting events — his favorite teams being the LA Kings, USC Trojans, New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox. A skilled sportsman, Mike enjoyed skiing, golfing, hunting, and fishing — from his trout pond, to his quest for the golden dorado in Argentina. Whether on the West or East coast, he most especially loved the ocean.
Mike retired to High Head, in Harpswell, ME in 1999 where he and Mallon Habig welcomed the arrival of their son, Ryan Anthony Miller. Mike loved his son with all his heart. He truly enjoyed and looked forward to the summers spent with Ryan.
In most recent years, Mike and Lisa cherished the time they spent together at home, walking, and going to the beaches. He loved their cat Emma Jean, who brought him much comfort.
Mike had a dynamic personality and lived his life to the fullest. He was known to be generous to his family and friends. Much loved, Mike is going to be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline A. Miller of CA; his son, Ryan A. Miller of IN; his sisters Michelle and husband Michael Finley, M.D., of CA; Marcine and husband Matthew Waterman of England; nephews RJ and Casey Finley, niece Grace Waterman; and his love and best friend, Lisa Gayton Goddard of Topsham.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard A. Miller, in 1987, whom he loved with great respect.
A memorial service will be held at the Elijah Kellogg Congregational Church, 917 Harpswell Neck Road, Route 123, Harpswell, on Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m. Fellowship to immediately follow.
