BUXTON – Two suspects in a Buxton robbery in which a rifle allegedly was brandished were arrested last week in Portland and taken to York County Jail in Alfred, according to a Buxton Police Department report.

Buxton Police Chief Michael Grovo said in a report that suspects Martin Bruneau, 24, and Ricky Swasey, 55, both of 1395 Congress St., Portland, both face robbery charges while being armed with a firearm. The two suspects are being held on bail options that include $3,000 cash each, according to a jail spokeswoman on Tuesday.

A court date for Bruneau and Swasey has been set for Oct. 27 in York County Superior Court in Alfred, police said.

Police said the arrests stem from an armed home invasion at 3:54 a.m. on June 18 at a home on Parker Farm Road in Buxton. Grovo reported that two men created a disturbance in the driveway at the home. The homeowner encountered the two who were demanding money. One of the suspects continued demanding money while the other took a rifle from the trunk of their car and displayed it to the homeowner, the police report said.

“The homeowner gave the individuals $60, which they had demanded was owed to them for a drug debt,” Grovo reported.
