WISCASSET — Patricia J. Dighton, 70, of 9 Cheney Drive went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at her residence with family by her side.

She was born in Damariscotta on Dec. 11, 1943, a daughter of George B. and Esther A. (Weaver) Cheney.

She graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1961 and Bernard School of Cosmetology in 1982. She owned and operated Happy Scissors beauty salon in Boothbay Harbor for three years and later in Wiscasset for 19 years. After retiring she was employed in the Home Store department at L.L. Bean from 2003 until May 30, 2014.

She was a member of the Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church, which she considered all members her family.

Her most important thing in her life was to give of herself. She loved being with her family and her L.L. Bean family. She enjoyed camping and traveling but the greatest thing she enjoyed was to be a faithful servant to our Lord.

She is survived by her husband, Earl D. Dighton of 41 years; three sons, David E. Dighton and his companion, Carol Papciak of South Portland, William E. Dighton and his companion, Kathy Frizzell of Alna, and Norman N. Bryant and his wife, Katie of Wiscasset; four daughters, Teresa A. Williams and her husband, Dan of Boothbay Harbor, Holly M. Hardwick and her husband, Steven of Eagle Lake, Marsha A. DeCosta and her husband, Randy of Alna, and Kelly J. Bryant of Wiscasset; six sisters, Donna Cheney of Winthrop, Flora Dunham and her husband, Edward of Brooksville, Fla., Dianne Labreck of Winslow, Dale Wenners and her husband, Ron of Wiscasset, Jane Cheney and her husband, George Clair of Winslow, and Jean Huber and her husband, Mike of Wiscasset; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church, Route 1, Woolwich. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta.
