BATH — Allison Plummer scored with six minutes remaining to break a 2-2 tie as the Morse High School field hockey team broke into the win column with a 3-2 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Waterville on Tuesday at McMann Field.

Down 1-0 at the half, Plummer tied the game and KK Fifield gave the Shipbuilders (1-7) the lead.

After the Panthers tied it, Plummer fired a shot past Waterville (0-8) keeper Caitlin White (eight saves) for a 3-2 lead.

Morse goaltender Bryanna Ringrose made 14 saves, including a pair of clutch stops as the time ticked away.

“The girls played the way they are capable of playing,” said Morse coach Stephanie Pinkham, whose squad visits Spruce Mountain on Thursday at 4 p.m.

LAKE REGION 1

Hannah Williams scored two goals as Freeport pulled away for a Western Maine Conference win over Lake Region.

Williams opened the scoring 10 minutes into the first half, and Bailey Coffin gave the 5-3 visitors a 2-0 lead six minutes into the second. After the Lakers pulled within a goal, Williams completed the scoring with 12:30 remaining in regulation.

Morgan Karnes turned aside 11 shots in the win.

The Falcons visit Poland on Thursday at 4 p.m.

MT. ARARAT 0
EL 3

Jasmine Wyman scored the opening goal as Edward Little (4-3-1) sidestepped winless Mt. Ararat (0-8), which hosts Lewiston on Thursday (4 p.m.).

Brook Lever added one goal and two assists for the Red Eddies.

Mt. Ararat goaltender Haley Frizzle made 29 saves, while EL goaltender Danica Nadeau stopped 11 Eagle shots.

BRUNSWICK 0
MESSALONSKEE 10

Emily Hogan led the way for Messalonskee with three goals during its shutout victory over Brunswick.

Ellie Leinhart played well in the midfield, bringing the ball upfield multiple times to create better chances for the Dragons. Lauren Grocholl also opened up the left side, however, the Dragons were unable to push the ball through.

Jordan Van Savage and Anna Webster combined for 14 saves in net for the Dragons.

“My team is still learning,” said Brunswick coach Karin Paquin. “We have 18 sophomores, but the skills have definitely improved since the beginning of the season.”

The Dragons host Mt. Blue on Thursday at 4 p.m.
